We aim to reply within 5 business days. Including your device model, OS version and the game version (shown at the bottom of the in-game Settings screen) speeds things up a lot.
Progress & saves
Does my progress sync between devices?
Yes, if you switch on online backup in Settings. Your progress always lives on your device first; with backup on, a snapshot also goes to our servers so you can pick it up on another phone.
One catch worth knowing before you rely on it: link the optional Google or Apple sign-in. Until you do, the backup is identified only by a credential stored on that one device — clear the app's data, uninstall, or change phone and nothing connects the backup to you any more. Cloud backup on its own does not guarantee your data can be recovered.
I reinstalled the game and my progress is gone.
If you had online backup on and had linked a Google or Apple account, sign in again on the welcome screen and choose Restore — your save comes back.
If backup was on but you never linked an account, the backup is still on our servers, but we can no longer tell which one was yours, so we cannot hand it back. If backup was off, nothing was ever sent to us at all.
In both of those cases the device's own backup may still save you: iCloud on iOS, Google's device backup on Android, which a like-for-like phone restore usually carries across.
Do I have to sign in to use cloud backup?
No. Backup works without any sign-in — the app registers an anonymous account for your device.
But signing in with Google or Apple is what makes the backup recoverable. It is the difference between a copy we hold and a copy you can actually get back, and it is the one step we would ask you not to skip.
Does the game work offline?
Yes, completely. Every level of the journey, the daily puzzle pool and the Night Line fragments are all on your device, and Loop Line is generated as you play. Only ads and purchases need a connection.
Purchases & ads
What does the ad-free subscription include?
Three things: no ads at all, 3 free hints every day, and an ad-free badge. It comes as a weekly or a monthly plan — your store shows the price in your own currency before you confirm.
It renews until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime in your store settings. The full game stays free either way: the subscription removes advertising, it does not unlock levels.
I subscribed to ad-free but still see ads.
First check you're signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with. Then open Settings → Ad-free, tap Restore purchases, and restart the game.
Still seeing them? Email us with your device model and roughly when you subscribed, and we'll sort it out.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
Purchases are tied to your Apple or Google account, not to the device. Sign in with the same account, then use Restore purchases on the Ad-free screen, or the restore option on the welcome screen.
How do I cancel the subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by the store rather than by us. On iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions.
Canceling stops the next renewal — you keep ad-free until the period you have already paid for runs out. See Cancellation and refunds for the full picture.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds go through whichever store you bought from. On iOS, use reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, follow Google's refund process — Play purchases can usually be refunded without questions within 48 hours.
If the store turns you down and you think the content was faulty, email us. Your statutory rights as a UK or EU consumer are set out in the terms and are never reduced by anything there.
How do I earn hints without paying?
You start with 5 and can hold up to 10. Daily streak milestones pay out at 3, 7, 14 and 30 days; the stamp album pays as you fill it; every chapter crest is worth 5; and a rewarded ad is good for +1 a few times a day.
Finishing a level doesn't pay a hint by itself — the balance is deliberately scarce, so a hint is worth spending thought on. A wrong check only ever costs a star, never your progress.
How do I change or withdraw my ad consent?
In the UK and EU, Settings → Privacy & ad consent reopens the Google consent form. That row only appears where the consent framework requires it, so you won't see it in other regions.
On iOS you can also change tracking permission under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
Playing the game
I'm stuck on a level. Any tips?
Read the rule chips before the words. The chip color tells you the family — blue is meaning, pink is sound, green is spelling, purple is compounds — which narrows things down fast.
Then just try a card: a wrong one explains why it failed before it returns to the bank. And a hint will place a correct card for you if you'd rather move on.
How do stars work?
Three stars means at most one failed check and no hints used. One hint still leaves you two stars; two or more drops you to one. Minimal Chain also asks you to match or beat par.
Only your best result for a level is kept, so a replay can never cost you stars — but replays don't count toward stamps or streaks either.
How do I turn the daily reminder on or off?
Settings → Daily reminder. It stays off until you switch it on. It's a single local notification at about 7 pm, it only fires if you haven't played that day's puzzle, and it never carries marketing — nothing leaves your device to send it.
What accessibility options are there?
Reduced motion, Large text and High contrast, plus separate switches for sound effects and haptics. They're all in Settings and take effect immediately.
Privacy & data
How do I delete my data?
Everything the game stores is on your device, so uninstalling it removes the lot. Data & deletion requests walks through the details, including what our partners hold and how to ask us to clear it.
What data does the game collect?
There's no sign-up and no account, and your progress stays on your device. Ads, purchases, anonymous gameplay analytics and crash reports involve a few partners, and every one of them is named in the Privacy Policy.
